Construction Work Camp

We are planning to build a Vocational Skills Training Centre in our recently acquired land in Wakiso Districts to enhance the work UYSTO does in the provision of skills for the most vulnerable youths and women. The camp is organized to provide support in site evaluation, preparation, and construction, marking the beginning of our building journey for we have a goal to build and relocate to our premises by 2025. Therefore, we are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about contributing their time and skills to make a positive change in a remote and challenging environment.

About us

Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization (UYSTO) is a registered Non-governmental Organization (NGO) started in 2004 but fully registered in 2007. Since then, UYSTO has continued to impact the social-economic well-being of communities, through skill enhancement for youths and women's self-employment or/and employment. We primarily focus on vocational skills development such as technical skills, entrepreneurship training, and career guidance. Some of these programs include: ‘Digitally Together for Gender Equality’’ and ‘Mpreneur’ programs implemented in partnership with the European Union and ‘Vocational and Entrepreneurship Skills Training’ implemented in collaboration with the Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation.

Project location

Namayumba is a sub-county located in Busiro North, Wakiso district, with a population of 33,320 people. However, the socio-economic situation in Namayumba is challenging due to two main issues: poverty and domestic violence with substance abuse as the primary cause. It is also worth noting that there are two government-aided vocational training institutions in Wakiso, but they are not easily accessible to all communities due to distance and educational background requirements for enrolment
